Why doesn't Japan try to stage its on international marathon? Just not in Tokyo. There are many nice places out in the country here that would love to have it I bet.

if people want tourism to flourish, they should do something about the crazy surcharges on plain tickets. I don't know about Hawaii, but for a $1000 plain ticket to Europe for winter vacation I had to pay $500 taxes. And the same destination, but using JAL, was $800 the ticket (and darn I was happy), then to find out they tax $800 more for whatever reasons. and most Japanese fly with JAL or ANA
