Which means that the commercial was extremely effective and ham head Karl doesn't have anything more intelligent to say than repeat the usual Fox conspiracy theories.

And while I'm neither pro-Chrysler or Ford I predict Ford's legal threats will amount to nothing. What will they argue? That Ford trucks were slandered by claims they wouldn't survive an apocalypse?

That was pretty messed up. Next SuperBowl Ford will get revenge. Oh look!! The little GM owner needs a bail out. Yeah Chevy didn't have to do that. They should be humble after using the taxpayers money to make their commercials.

I thought the car companies has to pay back their loans - and did so. Guess I missed something. Anyone who drives a GM or Ford is an idiot. Much better trucks out there.

Wow Tmarie takin every chance it can at blasting something american. Ford never took bailout money. Chevy and American Pick up trucks are top in the world. Name one that even compares...especially for the price range.

Toyota? the car company that cant stop? Gets less gas mileage than an F150 because they refuse to accept direct inject technology? oh and the toyota tundra costs $20,000 more than an F150 for less of a truck...try again? Ford and GM trucks are not the trucks of 10 - 15 years ago.

Hey Karl, it was "W" who started the process of bailouts. Imagine, it took an Italian owned company to tell Americans that we can do better and we can work this out by sticking it through, and not the so-called party that is in opposition to the Dems and the socialist aganeda that you guys say Obama and the Dems are pushing every 5 minutes on Fox.

Look, I am no huge supporter for Obama and the Dems, and I do watch Fox, but only take if for what it's worth, but the commercial was good in the point that it is telling us that we can do better. He didn't come out and say that it was going to take a Rep to make it right, nor was he adding on to the "Hope and Change" but what I got from it was along the lines of that famous Dem president and his "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" (JFK).

Much could be read into the Eastwood ad, but it was fundamentally about the resurgence of America through cooperation and hard work.

Bah humbug! - the Republican usual suspects snort. An ad made by a private corporation hawking American-made products starring a man not well-known in the least for his socialist tendencies must be some nefarious Obama plot.

A few quotes from a WaPo article:

In 2011, Gallup’s polling showed that President Obama averaged an 80 percent approval rating among Democrats and 12 percent among Republicans....

Gee, I don't think even Bush fell that low amongst Democrats; but still, there is also this:

... political scientist Keith Poole released a study.... According to his highly respected classification system, Obama is the most moderate Democratic president since World War II.

Their wackiness knows no bounds. They constantly vilify President Obama as being a "crony-capitalist socialis" (I still haven't figureed out how the right has wrapped their head around the concept the Pres. Obama is a capitalist and a socialist at the same time. Then again, they can't seem to make up their mind as to whether he's a radical Christian or a Muslim. Nor have they been able to come to a consensus as to whether President Obama is a do-nothing president who is constantly on vacation or a dedicated villain, hellbent on destroying America.

They paint President Obama as a bigger liberal than Abbie Hoffman and their hero Ronald Reagan was as conservative as Ghengis Khan. These are the realities they would have us believe.

Not until they can accept the folllowing reality. I can't wait for the first person to claim it was doctored somehow.

Mr. Rove doesn't have a clue. The Chrysler bailout loans were approved by President GEORGE W. BUSH in 2008, not (then) President-Elect Barack Obama:

On December 19, George W. Bush announced that he had approved the bailout plan, which would give loans of $17.4 billion to U.S. automakers GM and Chrysler, stating that under present economic conditions, "allowing the U.S. auto industry to collapse is not a responsible course of action." Bush provided $13.4 billion now, with another $4 billion available in February 2009. Funds would be made available from the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. General Motors would get $9.4 billion, and Chrysler $4 billion.

@Fadamor: completely true. When contacted by the media, G.W. said (quoted last night on NBC news) he approved the bailout loans, and would do the same again. He needs to give Karl a call.

Dodge has best value with their 5.7 Hemi 390hp. and is the best trucks. Dodge trucks look the best and as for 1/2 ton pickups I think dodge wins because i think the 5.7 liter and 6.0 liter is a better engine then any of the other 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton engines. The 5.7 and 6.0 hemi in the newer dodge 1500's wins.

Republicans believe that it is only they who can declare "morning in America." And the nitwit Repubs have now become the real pessimists on America.

I guess that Tempo and van my parents owned weren't Fords... To be honest, my experience with fords is exactly why I will never, ever owe one or even consider driving one. My parents buy Korean and Japanese now after years of paying to fix their crappy American cars.

Must admit, I did like the Saturn but well, petty men and petty pride got in the way of probably the best car the US has ever produced.

The GM ad is a bit goofy, and shows what appears to be a fallen Azar BigBoy hamburger sign among other things in the rubble. At the end, one of the GM owners offers everyone a Twinkie. Then the frogs start falling. It doesn't leave me with a great impression of either GM trucks or their drivers (no offense to those of you who are), and I suppose that a post-apocalyptic life using up the gas you have left in your truck, eating Twinkies, and running over frogs would not be so idyllic, so I don't think Ford has to worry. I'm really not sure what the message is in this ad...maybe that the trucks are tough and the drivers are goofy.

The Chrysler ad - I didn't find it offensive at all, and it seemed to have a more or less positive message about pulling together. The bailouts happened, certainly, and people have mixed feeling about them, but the ad wasn't focused on assigning blame, just working through difficulties together. Granted the tone may be overly positive in tone, but I didn't really have a problem with that.

This comment ISNT about cars or trucks being made, that said the GM ad was .............. not good, kinda daft, the Chrysler ad was excellent & I have never owned a Chrysler

??? I guess you didn't read my post above. It was (the Republican) President George W. Bush who approved the loans, not Obama. If anything, the Republicans should be thanking their stars that the bailout worked. It's just Karl Rove who appears to have forgotten what was happening three and a half years ago.
