Formula One stars Hamilton, Rosberg escape punishment after crash

Since they were both taken out, it made no difference to the gap between the two Merc drivers. They get to go into the next race in the same position and ready to renew their battle for 2016 world champion.

This crash gave the rest of the field a fun day to gather some extra points and close the gap to Merc at the front.

Max Vertstappen was outstanding, the way he managed his tires/tyres and fended off repeated attacks by Kimi Raikonnen. Congratulations to him.

Sadly Alonso was forced out by a loss of power, without which the two McLaren Hondas would undoubtedly have finished in the points. Button scored a couple of badly-needed points however for the team, who have been silently and steadily moving up the rankings. Now they have put much of the field behind them, and are starting to mix with the top four or five teams.
