Fujita holds on to win Pine Valley Beijing Open

BEIJING —

Hiroyuki Fujita put the disappointment of his playoff loss a week ago behind him as the overnight leader hung on to win the first Japanese tour event played outside the country at the Pine Valley Beijing Open on Sunday.

Fujita had his second straight even-par round to hold off a final-round charge by countryman Shintaro Kai by three shots, wrapping up a memorable week for him and the JGTO tour with a 12-under 276 total. Fujita, who enjoyed a six-shot lead after three rounds, was unruffled by a three-putt bogey on the first hole in claiming his sixth career victory on the JGTO tour with solid, defensive play at the Pine Valley Golf Resort.
