Fukudome hits 200th career homer in Cubs win

Milwaukee, Wisconsin —

Kosuke Fukudome hit his 200th career homer in going 2-for-4 to help the Chicago Cubs take an 11-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. Fukudome, who had 192 homers over nine seasons in Japan before joining the Cubs, hit the eighth homer of his rookie year in the major leagues with a two-run shot off David Riske with two outs in the eighth inning.

In other games, Ichiro Suzuki tripled and doubled in a 2-for-5 outing as the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 8-5.

What a joke that he made the all-star team.

Let's see 8 homers through 2/3 of the season means he'll hit about 12 this year. After averaging, what, 20/year, in Japan? Is it fair to say that Japanese players coming to the U.S. will hit about 60% as many homers as they did in the Japan League? Matsui never came close to 40 let alone the 55 he hit in his best season in Japan.

If you say he has 200 homers, that means he is not a rookie, right, and can't be eligible for rookie of the year. Sounds about right.

helloklitty: you are absolutely right and that is the reason nobody likes to comment on MLB media reports here.
