Umm... Didn't the Seattle Mariners WIN 5-2? Conveniently forget the fact that Johjima took 2 BB and scored once and the Ichiro also ended up scoring twice?
Basically, it looked like the relievers ruined a good game, especially the Cubs game. Sheets and Zambrano had a good pitcher's duel going until Kerry Wood and Eric Gagne blew it for both of them.
"Umm" indeed ! I lean towards "14somethings" viewpoint... The Cubs lost and Ichiro and Johjima did absolutely nothing to help their team score. In short, a pretty weak day for the three players "highlighted here. Lets hope JT stopsthese stories about failing Japanese ball players overseas... It's all so depressing !
i hope fukudome starts to suck it up a little bit after this. as a wisconsin native and, by default, a brewers fan, i can't really hope for a cubs player's success.
as for eric gagne: YUCK. his being the closer pisses me off more than jeff suppan being signed before last season.
Wow, tough crowd! a 3 for 3 with a 3 run home-run and a walk, 1.00 OBP day, a triple short of the cycle is a weak day for Fukudome (one of the "three players highlighted here)? Although it was a weak day for Kerry Wood and Bob Howry, I would think that it was a pretty good day. I mean, I'm a Cubs fan and wish the F-Bomb (a new nickname by some Chicago fans) well, and was disappointed that the Cubbies lost, I think it was a pretty good debut for him.
As for the Seattle boys, yeah, no hits sort of suck, but they were on base 3 times to score 3 of the 5 runs that Seattle scored which helped to win the game.
Did you read the headline ?
It's about Fukudome hitting a game-tying 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th on his MLB debut.
I didn't see any of your Major League stars doing the same on their debut's.
Pretty impressive to me, but I guess there's no pleasing some people.

Four guys in the crowd had one letter each on their chests - F, U, K, and U, in support of Fukudome, and were having a good time.
In a different section of the crowd, some people were holding up 偶然だよ! placards when Fukudome hit a homer.
Good times had by all.
