Kotooshu is 10-0! But now the real challenges await. Take them one day at a time, Bulgarian hero, and you can win your first yusho!

Ama did a nice job from start to finish. I thought he had Hakuho dead to righs on the initial charge. I loved Hakuho's expression after he went down. First time I seen him without his poker face.

Happy for Baruto win, man that guy has had a rough few days. Seems like he is too much of a nice guy for this type of sport.

Kotooshu is too much a pretty boy for my liking. He's made things look easy, but we now see what he is made of these next five days.

Its still Asashoryu tournament to lose. He had an interesting challenge today but finished it off with his patented "chump push". This guy is the Tiger Woods of Sumo.

Tomorrow Asashoryu will be thrown in the audience and 11:0 for the handsome boy Kotoosyu.

Ama is my hero. The guy drops a lot of matches that leave me wondering what is the matter with him...and then I remember, oh yeah, he's scrawny as all get out. But Ama knows how to step up his performance in these big matches. Even when he loses to the yokozuna, he usually makes them fight for it.

And for all of you Kotooshu lovers, take a reality check. Kotooshu's chances at winning this tournament still have to be about 10-1. He has faced virtually no one of consequence so far...none of the sekiwake, none of the yokozuna, and none of the other ozeki except Kaio, who hasn't been in strong form for a year or more. (Kaio's last, best result was 10-5 a year ago in the May tournament. Since then, his win-loss records look more like a mid-ranked maegashira.) Kotooshu faces a wall of exceptionally strong wrestlers from here until the end, which is in contrast with the relatively weak schedule he has faced so far, and Kotooshu will need to put on a much stronger sumo display to win the tournament.

He has to be feeling confident right now, and so far he's having his best tournament since becoming an ozeki, but Kotooshu can't claim any important victories so far, and the real tests lie ahead.

Today the Bulgarian boy will be humbled by the yokozuna. And Hakuho will keep pace with both of them by beating Chiyotaikai.

  • LFRAgain at 05:57 PM JST - 21st May

The Bulgarian Boy just took out Asa. Wow!

  • mikeylikesit at 06:01 PM JST - 21st May

So much for that prediction, Sarge. You got the Hakuho keeping pace part right, but Kotooshu is clearly in the driver's seat now. He still needs to beat Hakuho tomorrow, though. That win would put him 2 matches clear with 3 days to go, and the two toughest matches behind him.

This is looking more like the Kotooshu from a couple years ago. Where has he been hiding all this time?

  • Ivoap at 06:20 PM JST - 21st May

He was injured, but I hope this is already forgotten! Kotooshu is going to win this tournament. Some people do not want to realize that but its happening because Kaloyan is the best!!!

  • kenchan at 07:09 PM JST - 21st May

wow..go kotooshu! its great to see him challenge for the lead....even if he doesn't make it (the odds are still against him as Hakuho is in the prime spot) he would have proven his ozeki status and hopeful this will be a new start for his sumo.

  • Princeska at 08:01 PM JST - 21st May

Oh Kotoshyu oh, dear, pretty, handsome boy, well done!!!
