Hanshin bats come alive in 4th to down Yomiuri

TOKYO —

Makoto Imaoka, Takashi Toritani, Kentaro Sekimoto and Scott Atchison drove in runs in a five-run fourth inning, and the Hanshin Tigers used their bullpen effectively to hold off the Yomiuri Giants 8-4 in the Central League on Tuesday. Imaoka opened the scoring hitting a leadoff homer in the second but Yomiuri answered right back with Yoshiyuki Kamei’s RBI single in the next inning at Tokyo Dome.

In other CL games, Yokohama edged Yakult 2-1, while Chunichi and Hiroshima tied 1-1 after 12 innings. In the Pacific League, Seibu beat Nippon Ham 3-1, Orix defeated Lotte 3-1 and Softbank downed Rakuten 8-4.

What is it with the Yomiuri-influenced media in this country ? Watched the game highlights on NHK (supposedly independent news) yesterday evening and they completely missed out all of Hanshin's runs whilst at 6-1 to the Tigers and started showing Yomiuri action instead.

Unfortunately for this Giants-biased media in Japan there was no Yomiuri action yesterday as they got walloped by the Tigers yet again.

    Han-shin-Tigers !
