Isn't anyone in Japan going to mention that this was a free transfer for a 27-year-old nearing the end of his career -- not a brilliant chance for a youngster?

Free transfer because his contract at CSK was ending and was allowed to leave for free.If he had moved last summer Milan would have had to have paid whatever CSK put a value on him.And for a creative midfielder probably has 5 or 6 years playing at the top level of football if in good form, then maybe 3-4 back in J-league.Maybe not a youngster but still has maybe another 10 years playing left,so not near the end of his career by a long shot.

Best of luck, and I do honestly hope he can live up to his promise of "something special". I don't think he will, I think we'll hear the violins playing when he's benched for most of the time, but I do hope I'm wrong and he can for once live up to the hype.

He had to say something for the news hounds. His feet will get the chance to speak soon. I seriously doubt he will spend much time on the bench as some Honda-haters seem to think.
