Hidemasa Hoshino shot his second straight 3-under 69 to take a one-stroke lead at the midway point of the Vana H Cup KBC Augusta tournament Friday. Hoshino, who won his first major title at the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship in early July, carded five birdies against a pair of bogeys to move to 6-under 138 at Keya Golf Club in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Tatsuhiko Takahashi and Shintaro Kai tied for second place after rounds of 69 and 70. Sixteen-year-old pro Ryo Ishikawa posted another 73 to sit in a tie for 42nd at 2-over, making the cut by two strokes.
