He's in very good form and proving many doubters wrong including many AC Milan fans. He said he was good enough for one of the top leagues and it seems he was right. Good on him.

Honda is really on fire this season. Funny how nobody comments when he's doing well.

Actually, Kickboard, I came on to do just that. He's doing very well for Milan. If only he could do as well for the national team.

I wish he was Australian. In fact the whole Japanese B team can do a better job than any Australian player at the moment. We are worse than San Marino and Luxemburg. Such is life Ned.

23 goals in 59 games from midfield including goals in World and Asian Cups ( he was voted player of the tournament in 2011 ). I'm just wondering what you would regard as playing well for the national team.

@ OzKen -

we are worse than San Marino and Luxembourg Ha! I reckon we could boss Vatican City or Samoa around, though. Maybe. I think it's time to admit that soccer is not our go down in Aus!

Jimizo: "he was voted player of the tournament in 2011 "

Which was a crock, and in which he did not score a SINGLE goal save in PK overtime. He should never have gotten the award. And how many times has he missed when he should have passed and Japan lost the game? So given the media hype on this golden boy, I'd say he has to do a LOT better, and not huff and puff and have his eyes bulge out while he yells at others when he can't score like in the last WC.

he did not score a SINGLE goal save in PK overtime

That is factually incorrect. He made good on his attempt during a penalty shootout following overtime in the knockout stage. He scored a goal during the group stages, which have no overtime.

how many times has he missed when he should have passed and Japan lost the game?

Japan did not lose any games.

He should never have gotten the award

You make it seem like the player who scores the most goals should get the award. There is a different award for that. By that rational, Tadanari Lee "only" scored one goal, even though he is a forward, so therefore he was crap, which he certainly was not. Honda has leadership, something which a lot of Japanese players unfortunately do not possess. He led his team to a championship, but I suppose that is not good enough for you.
