Ichiro went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in the Seattle Mariners’ 5-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Ichiro singled to right in the third inning at Tropicana Field and singled to center to score Jack Hannahan with one out in the top of the fifth to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.
Seattle catcher Kenji Jojima was hitless in four at-bats, while Tampa Bay second baseman Akinori Iwamura contributed to his team’s win with a two-run triple in the sixth. Elsewhere, Hideki Matsui went 0-for-3 with a walk in the New York Yankees’ 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Angels, while Kazuo Matsui had a double in a 1-for-2 outing as the Houston Astros beat the St Louis Cardinals 3-0.
