What a wonderful Game both for the Japanese and foreigners as well.
Japanese fans must be happy with Ichiro's single hit and strong arm throw
and Fukudome whose first appearance in all-star was more important than no-hit. As for the foreigners every moment was so exciting, 15 innings,
power pitchers vs power hitters, few silly errors on the part of NL,
no disturance from NHK cameraman/commentators, since both j-players disappeard much earlier than NHK's expectation.
some14some, it seems that the Japanese are the "foreigners" in this case (along with the Dominicans, Canadians, etc.), given that the game was being played in New York.
Interesting article about Ichiro's annual All-Star pre-game speech to the AL all-stars. Seems like the AL hasn't lost an all-star game since he delivered his speech.
“It’s why we win,” David Ortiz said. He pointed to Ichiro Suzuki, the Seattle Mariners’ wisp of an outfielder, a man who still uses a translator to do interviews with English-speaking reporters – and happens to be baseball’s amalgam of Anthony Robbins and George Carlin.
“If you’ve never seen it, it’s definitely something pretty funny,” Morneau said. “It’s hard to explain, the effect it has on everyone. It’s such a tense environment. Everyone’s a little nervous for the game, and then he comes out. He doesn’t say a whole lot the whole time he’s in there, and all of a sudden, the manager gets done with his speech, and he pops off.”
"Surprised Matsuzaka and Okajima didn't make the team"
No surprise here ! Neither are "all-star" material ! Fans know it as do the coaches who select the subs. Not sure what yer thinkin altria but nobody seems to agree with you.

Surprised Matsuzaka and Okajima didn't make the team...maybe they had too many Sox already.
