No, Japan should not be discouraged because Korea got the 2018 Winter Olympics. Japan should be discouraged because while Korea was choosing the charming, intriguing Kim Yuna to be the face of their Olympic movement my beloved Japan choose a xenophobic old fart to be the face of theirs. I'll say it now; Tokyo will never get the Olympics as long as Ishihara is at the forefront.

Maybe Ishihara can utilize a Japanese sports gal in his campaign.

No, South Korea getting the Winter Games just before is not a reason for Japan not to get the Olympics in 2020 -- it's just the nail in the coffin after the other plentiful reasons are added.
These guys just want the money -- both for the bid and the juicy envelopes they'll probably get on the sly.

I guess that means another $170 million to be spent on a bid.

Most likely India or a developing country will win, Olympics is a PR gimmick for developing countries or developed countries wanting to cash in.. oh did I mention there is some sports also...

**In further comments, Jacques Rogge continued, "I also believe that Japan should restart all nuclear reactors without safety checks. I mean, c'mon, what's the worst thing that could happen?"

Of course one positive coming from this is that it will give Ishihara the chance to watch Chinese and USAmerican athletes winning hundreds of medals in his own back yard.
