Deviating quite a bit from their "compact Olympics" theme and promise which I think shouldn't have been made without honestly seeing if it was feasible or not.
But moving some of the events slightly out of the 8km radius is fine I think.
Osaka is mentioned conspicuously in the middle of the article. Why move events as far out as Osaka? There are dozens of available venues in Kanagawa/Saitama/Chiba.

Why am I not surprised the JOC is completely reneging on their promises? They promised a 'compact games' with a very small budget (comparitively speaking) and everything within 8 kms, and now they are talking about having events in OSAKA?? And how much do you want to bet that if they get the go ahead to further go against their promises they'll suddenly need to 'revamp the venues in Osaka' or suddenly need to build something new altogether? I'd even bet that before long Mori or some other genius in the IOC will start recommending that at least one event be held in each prefecture to 'help boost the spirits of people in the north' and make it a truly 'all Japan' Olympics?

Abe should take responsibility for this, an obvious scam to just win the bid, when reality was known to be different.
RESIGN Abe, give the Olympics to Turkey, spend the money on the folks in Tohoku. After they are taken care of, then bid for the Olympics and show the world Japan's hospitality.........(tongue in cheek)

Hold everything up in Sendai. The beleaguered Tohoku-ites will get a boost, and since they seem determined to hold the Games in sauna-like August (unlike in 1964 when they began in pleasant, non-humid October) the athletes will have a much easier time competing.

Here here! A sound idea. Canoeing in Nagano and rowing on the Fuji 5 lakes springs immediatley to mind. Good, clean air and water, less chance of the athletes being coated in filth

As Yubaru says :
or Spain. Everything about this project is ridiculous ! Starting with all the lies about "everything bieng under control"... There is NO need to spend astronomical sums of taxpayer money for a new, enormous stadium in Tokyo while many people in Tohoku have still not received either permanent housing or the compensation due to them... Not to mention August in Japan ??? It's just crazy !
