The Japanese women have dropped a set in every match so far this tournament. I'm afraid they're going to drop 2 sets or even lose to Korea tomorrow. But if I had to bet money, I'd have to say Japan will somehow pull it out.

I hope Thailand beats Poland for their first win of this tournamnet. If not for their severe height disadvantage, I believe they would beat every other team. Also, I hope Puerto Rico beats Serbia, and the Dominican Republic beats Kazakhstan.

The Thais, with an average height of 176 cm, will have to overcome the Poles' average 185 cm advantage. Still don't understand why there isn't a limit on players' height for international competitions... I like to see contests of skill, not physical handicaps.

Sarge, Polish women's volleyball team (and men's too) is one of the best in the world. They have amazing technique. Even if the Thais are much taller than the Polish they have no chance at this moment. In some sports Asian peopla have advantage, in others Europeans or Africans etc... Japan and Korea and China are best in figure skating, does it mean that the Euoropeans should complain that the figure skaters shouls be taller or heavier? it is nonsense.

Princeska - If the Thai women were taller than the Polish women, the Polish women would not win one set! The Thai women are awesome! The Polish women lost to the Japanese and dropped a set to the Domincan Republic. They did whip Kazakhstan and Korea though!

I was in error when I said earlier the Japanese women have dropped a set in every match this tournament. They beat Kazakhstan 3-0, though set 2 was a real dogfight with Kazakhstan on the brink of victory at 24-22, but finally ended up losing it 31-33.

Zzzz... this tournament is a (boring) battle for the teams that will finish in the bottom half of the Olympic rankings... who gets the honor of finishing 9th? 11th? Will it be Kazakhstan? Korea? Poland? No, no, Japan bought this tournament fair and square; they deserve the booby prize in Beijing!

Congratulations to the Japanese women - they are going to Beijing! They proved one other thing tonight - they can win the first two sets, take the first 3 points of the 3rd set, making everyone think they're going to take the match 3-0, and LOSE the 3rd set!

opposite13 - Why even bother posting on this thread?

Ummm... 'cause I know it'll rile your feathers? You, Sarge, and your undying devotion the unequivocably mediocre Japanese national team (see most recent world rankings, and soon-to-be Beijing Olypmic results)... too hilarious!!

    "unequivocably mediocre Japanese national team"

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Too hilarious! They've only won 5 straight matches, including beating the giant European champion Poland!
