Rather unusual that Japan is complaining after 'winning' the game.

It's soccer. People die is some places in the world for missed kicks etc. Be professional.

There was clearly interference from the stands. Not nice at all.

Calm down, calm down. It was Kaz Miura's medallion in the stands..

We’ve sent pictures and a DVD along with the notes

    Not a blueray disc..?

Ya'd think BOTH teams would rather forget that game!!

They don't meet fameous English soccer fans yet !

still causes concern, its not winning or losing mates, its the laser being pointed on the faces and the user is clearly aiming for the eyes. While shouting and distracting is one thing, trying to inflict injury is another

So it was a laser? A "bright light" makes me think someone had a Mini Maglight and was shining it from the stands! A laser is a different matter.

  • USNinJapan2 at 06:35 PM JST - 11th September

It was a highly focused bright green light, probably a laser pointer. Like mikihouse said, distracting loud noises are to be expected during a match but blinding a player whose about to kick a penalty kick is going too far. It's unsportsmanlike conduct like this that gets fans totally banned from matches. Japan has every right to complain about this.

Pathetic and bad sportsmanship by Japanese, always complain is it not.

  • Osakadaz at 02:44 PM JST - 12th September

It was clearly an industrial strength laser and Japan did the right thing by complaining about it.Football has a bad enough name and this sort of activity should be punished. These lasers are now fully banned in Australia after young idiots were shining them in the eyes of airline pilots and ...the air police!!!

Right, Soldave. A Mini Maglight could blind a player on the pitch all the way from the stands. The only matter that differs is that you have a wild imagination.
