Japan new market for Premier League scouts, says Wenger

Anything but spend decent money and salaries on established talent.

When a guy has no name people are already skeptical. So it’s much more difficult for us

So how about investing all of those millions (Arsenal are way up on the money making scale, one of the richest clubs in the world) on established stars, instead of getting young players on the cheap.

Wenger has not won a thing for 7 and a half years (and that was just the cup). So his 'system' does not work.

On a more serious note, I think he has a point. England's talents are way over-rated and over-priced now (with a few notable exceptions). The talent in France is almost non-existent as shown by their performance (both league and national teams). Germany and Spain are the top most nations in Europe in churning out young and brilliant players, but as soon as a big club is interested in them, their price sky-rockets. Hence, countries like Japan provide the best alternative.

FullM3taL, whilst I agree with your analysis, Wenger's system does not work for any rich club who wants to win silverware. I go to Arsenal on a regular basis, and the man has not won a thing for 7 and a half years now. His system works for feeder clubs selling nurtured talent for a bigger profit that the initial outlay. But Arsenal are one of the richest clubs in the world, and the supporters have finally had enough of seeing the likes of Van Persie, Nasri, Fabregas, Adebayor, Ashley Cole leave for better salaries and win championships and Champions League titles. Wenger is not at Ajax, West Ham, or Spurs. He is at a club rich enough to compete with Man United and Barcelona.

Wenger is almost in the twilight zone,but seven plus years w/o success will do that.Looking to Japan??? He's just being sentimental when he thinks about his time over here.

Tigers, Almost all of my Arsenal friends blame the board and not Wenger. They all think it's Kroenke's fault and that if David Dein had still been at Arsenal, he would have run things differently and the story wouldn't have been the same. I see their point as well because Wenger is a great manager but he can't do much in the face of competition from United and oil-cash cows like City and Chelsea. It was abundantly clear that he wouldn't win the league with the likes of Chamakh, Squillaci, etc.

Having seen the well of talent dry up in France, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has identified Japan as an emerging market to find new players for his Premier League side.

Why would top talent stay in a country with an income tax of 75 percent? Even Gerard Depardieu has left France to pickup his Russian passport.
