Good on him for testing himself in England. Too few Japanese play in the English leagues - the only ones I sometimes watch online!

Lee is an inspirational player. While I am not sure he is the next best thing since sliced bread, he proved himself during the championship game against Australia. He faced discrimination in his home country of Japan and was spat on by his kinsman in Korea for living among the 'jokbaris,' but emerged victorious. I genuinely hope he will find success abroad and continue to cement his career as a fine player in athleticism and sportsmanship.

Will really miss him at Sanfrecce, but absolutely great to see him chase the dream to England. Hopefully he'll be another Japanese success in Europe. The momentum is growing, great performances from players in Italy, Germany. Hoping Lee can be the next success over there.

Agree with Tel Porter. Asian confed. players (notably Aussies and Koreans) have been doing the business in England for years - I hope Lee's move will encourage more English clubs to give Japanese players a start along with their fellow Asian confed.. stars. Success for some Japanese players in Germany is good - but in my mind England, especially the EPL, is a step up from that. Lee could be the first big Japanese success in England, hopefully.
