I love the idea. Then the Tokyo Olympic bid can crash and burn and the money can be put to better ends than a bunch of facilities that local people will never be able to use.
I support Tokyo. Tokyo is perfect place. After 1964 games never held in Japan. Tokyo's plan is 21century olympic games model. Finance, public security is very important. Tokyo is very safety.

Things that Isihara has done nothing for. I like Tokyo a lot too - but I don't think it deserves the Olympics over someplace new such as Rio in Brazil or perhaps even somewhere on the African continent. Japan had something legitimate to prove to itself and the world in '64. Now, this bid is simply a publicity stunt by a bunch of old cronies with the interest of making a buck for themselves in the process.
I must apologise, I'm usually not so cynical. However, when Isihara-San is concerned.......
Musubi - did you miss Nagano somehow? Tokyo is crowded enough without that going on here. It should definitely go to Rio, that would be great for Brazil and South America.
Its time for the Olympics to be held in an underdeveloped part of the world. A rich metropolis should sponsor a reasonbly sized city in an underdeveloped region and work together to bid for the games. Enough of this two and three times in the same city or country. There are over 150 countries in the Olympics and everyone should have a fair shot. Once again its just about the money. If any public figure (especially a higher up official) conveys a racially charged message or idea then that city should not be allowed to bid. I mean give me a break, he`s still the mayor. Are people that stupid?

Why don't some long term foreign residents of Tokyo make their way to the venue and protest outside.

Yeah, it would be amazing to watch Ishihara try to keep his lip buttoned. Maybe the people who suggested this agree with waris?

Let's make sure Ishihara gets a really good translator to cover his gaffs.

My boy Ishihara; the perfect guy to campaign for bringing foreigners to Tokyo.
I'm really going to miss him when he leaves politics.
