I hope the buffoon Mori does not get the post.

It may not be Mori who gets the post but the odds of the person getting the post being a buffoon are pretty good.

The new cabinet will have the power to award contracts for various services, the new minister will no doubt have a comfortable retirement, just like the others. Gotta love politics.

Are they the Tokyo Olympics or the Japan Olympics. IMO, this is a foolish move and will un-necessarily bog down the games in national politics. What happens if the LDP gets the boot and a party less enthralled with the Games comes in? Do all the plans get put on hold while a new party/minister gets up-to-speed? This is just a blatant attempt by the LDP to be able to award all the plum contracts to all their big J-Inc backers.

If you're referring to kickbacks, it's illegal.

"If you're referring to kickbacks, it's illegal."
Thanks, I needed a good laugh for the morning. Let's face it, just because it is "illegal" doesn't mean it isn't done on a routine basis. Whether it be in the form of amukudari, political contributions (of course to the party or some secondary political group, never directly to the politician receiving the kickback), or promises of political support (or do you think Keidanren's sudden resurgence of political activity is just a coincidence?), kickbacks in so many forms are done within the halls of politics that the whole thing reeks of corruption.
