JBC warns Miyata gym for switching Naito title fight venue

TOKYO —

The Japan Boxing Commission said Thursday it has issued a stiff warning to Miyata gym chief Hiroyuki Miyata for switching venues for Daisuke Naito’s defense of his WBC flyweight title defense in May.

Naito had been scheduled to take on Chinese challenger Xiong Zhaozhong in Shanghai on May 26 but the fight was scrapped just three days before it was to take place and switched to Tokyo because of promoter-related problems between Miyata gym and its Chinese counterpart. ‘‘Not staging the fight because of promotion reasons has led to a loss of public trust in the boxing world,’’ the JBC said.  Naito retained his belt for the fifth time with a unanimous decision against Xiong at Differ Ariake on May 26.

Did anyone else here see that fight? Naito got downed once, was on the defensive the last few rounds, admitted "Shippaishita" after the final round... then ends up winning with a unanimous decision against his Chinese counterpart?!?!?!?

I think right there is the source of their claimed "loss of public trust in the boxing world"..
