Need to tuck in their shirts if they want to win games, oh and stop using hair care products before a game. Make up as well for that matter.

I don't know what the other commenters have against soccer players... Anyway, that's off topic. Yes, the Japanese national team is sloppy at times, and they do have a tough World Cup. But it is the world cup. and Japan is not the world's top 10 team. So it's always going to be tough. Especially when the rivals like SK are improving at the rate they are, and Japan is still stuck in the notion of "we are the best in Asia". Japan no-longer can be complacent. That's for sure. If they work hard at it, they could go through to the top 16... or even top 8. They will have to work really hard for it though.

I'll say they're sloppy, leaving their clothes everywhere, leaving dirty dishes in the sink...and don't get me started on that hair thing.

Treating them like SUPERSTARS and putting them up in lavish hotels and waiting on them hand and foot and having thousands of morons screaming at them whenever they walk through the airport or onto a training ground when they aren't even the best in Asia!!!!!! These guys think they are WAY BETTER than they actually are. They need a good thump back down to earth. Do away with all the luxury. Lets go back to the beginning Rock(y)!!!

Is this reaction from the snowboarder scandal?

I mean they are sloppy on the pitch but putting more pressure on them is really not going to help.

I'm often surprised how athletes respond to Japanese journalists. They sound like office workers - just too serious. If they want results its about mentality and putting this in iron frame would just make their legs heavy.

What they lack most is creativity. They are too afraid not to lose and they just don't enjoy the game. They need someone that is more of a shrink than coach to get them going!

On the world stage, Japanese soccer is about as relevant as a high school car wash in Idaho.

They are not sloppy, just ill prepared and badly coached. I`ve said before, they need players in Europe, preferably England, Italy or Germany.

The quality is lacking due to the J League being of ba poor standard. I really couldn`t see any J League team being better class than English League 1. The critiscim should be directed at those in charge not by rubbung the players nose in defeats. This kind of critiscm lowers moral and performances may suffer.

Actually Japanese soccer players are more skilled at a younger age than western counterparts. This is what foreign youth coaches say. What they lack is tenacity. By the way, I'm not from Idaho so I don't know what the hell ahocchau is talking about.

actually, they are in the top 40 of the world currently by FIFA ranking. Which would make them about as relevant as a boy scouts car wash in Sydney.... Might not get the result you want, but it makes you feel warm and fuzzy supporting the underdogs.
