I was all set to see them play in DPRK back in the middle of 2005 until it got moved at the last minute to Bangkok. Still went though and had a good trip.
Hopefully they can organize some sort of tour or get someone like Koryo Tours involved to do it.

It would be great if DPRK let more Japanese nationals in - the relations between the nations may just improve. And the atmosphere in that 150,000 seater stadium in PyongYang (the same one maniac Kim has allegedly ordered the execution of political prisoners in) would be electric! However, I think most Japanese soccer fans would be very, very afraid of going - I've even heard some Japanese describe America as a "dangerous" country - imagine what they'd think about DPRK! Will be interesting for us outsiders anyway to see what happens...

Seems to be a mixed message there from Jgov and the sports minister. Is it safe to visit or not?

I believe there's a FIFA statute requiring the home team to allow up to a certain % of spectator seats if the away team asks for it.

better make sure these Japanese fans can make it out of NK or else there will be a whole bunch of new Japanese tutors available in Pyongyang.

No one should go, not even the team from Japan.

Exactly what I was thinking, ironchef. Additionally, I can't see any benefit from putting one more yen into their economy.

I would be too afraid to go there. Do they even have hotels, restaurants for tourists ?

The article gives no figures as to how many Japanese fans will or won't be allowed in by DPRNK.
How are we supposed to make a private decision on whether these figures are "acceptable" or not?
