"If not for the World Baseball Classic, this would be a non-issue. Johjima would have been in camp since the middle of February. He’d have a good grasp on the staff he will be catching and adequate time to rest his body to prepare for the full season."

And people still wonder why the MLB teams did not want to field their best players for the WBC. Johjima is running on fumes, and will probably play the poorer for having competed in the WBC. Hopefully that's not the case, and if he can prove otherwise, all the more cause to play in both. But you can bet if he fails or slips up even the least bit it'll be more cause to keep the real players from joining the WBC in the future.

Good luck, Johjima. Don't mess up!

Johjima's BA of .221 last season in a non WBC year shows that he is worse than on fumes. He's shot.
