This does not make a whole lot of sense to me. Jojima will only be 32 in June, but, to my mind, is an "old" 32. I think his best days as a player are behind him, especially offensively, and I cannot see how they needed to hurry and conclude the contract extension right now. He is off to a poor start. Will he be worth $8 million a year 2009-2011? I doubt it, but the Mariners obviously have tons of money to throw around.

Appreciate Mariners patience but fail to understand why they are accepting further liability !
