    calm down

Eddie's the most suitable candidate...but he's no superman. After watching some club games on TV the other week I saw absolutely no stand out Japanese players in any position..not optimistic looking at all as I'd like to see more REAL Japanese in the side and less dependence on the gaijins...lot of work in front of you Eddie !!

Eddie is one dodgy guy. I ran into him about 7 years ago in a Tokyo bar when he was still the coach of the Aussie team. He was supposed to be coaching the wallabies, but instead was there in tokyo on 'unofficial' coaching business. No surprise he ended up in the Japan after he got sacked from the Aussie team. Greedy imo.

Not alot of options for japan in the way of coaches, so i guess eddie is the most suitable but he is not very successful having only 1 super rugby title to his name, one win to the brumbies (i think it was) he has won nothing else of note.

His win-loss ratio is the lowest of any Wallabies coach.

All the same i will support the japanese team and their new coach and hope they do well together.

Interviewed the guy in Tokyo a while back.

Interesting to find his mother and his wife are Japanese, so coaching here will probably be like coming back to his second home.

C'mon now - maybe he was on official business - scouting for fellow Aussies and Kiwis in the bar to don the shirt in the future for the Brave Blossoms! I like EJ - but you will find a lot of disdain for him in the small, closed world of Australian Rugby circles. They reckon his record for the Wallabies isn't crash hot. I wish him well.

Not really a fan, but he's possibly the best option they have.

One thing that surprised me, I thought he would be a very good speaker of Japanese, but his level seems to be lower than what Kirwan's was.
