Kaz Matsui helps Astros to 5th straight win

HOUSTON —

Kazuo Matsui stole two bases and scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Houston Astros beat the Washington Nationals 4-3 on Wednesday for their fifth straight victory. With the game tied 3-3, Matsui led off the ninth with his third walk of an 0-for-2 night, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch by Jesus Colome before Carlos Lee drove him home with a one-out single to center.

In other action, AL batting leader Hideki Matsui extended his hitting streak to a career high-tying 16 games, with a second-inning bloop single to left and went 1-for-4 in the New York Yankees’ 3-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He is hitting .339. Chicago Cubs right fielder Kosuke Fukudome snapped a three-game hitless slide with an infield single and was 1-for-4 in a 9-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Who needs the other players! Matsui could have done it all himself!
