Chance for koreas to improve in all things via sports like football, which can bring out the best in north korea and south korea.

Looking forward to this match. I watched previously the Women's world cup match between USA and North korea was fun to watch, with USA team winning . The north korean women were not at pleased.

Football is not about about pleasing our national desires but more about playing a nice game of soccer for all global viewers to enjoy. Global viewers get to know a lot about a nation's ways via their style of soccer tactics in the world cup qualifiers.

I'm rooting for South Korea, but I hope if they win and the North is out they'd be willing to take players from the North (if they can) or make a semi-joined team, or something like that. At the very least, I hope that whomever wins has the support of the other to represent Korea in the World Cup.

BTW, any team attempting to beat the North Korean Soccer team shall be deemed as commiting an act of war.

smithinjapan - Can't really see that happening. They are 2 separate countries so it would similar to Scotland being knocked out of the World Cup qualifying and England taking their players and changing their name to make it a "UK" team. There is also no way FIFA would allow players to transfer and a new country with new playing pool to be created and allowed in the next World Cup.

rooting for North Korea. Hope that being in such an important event will help citizens to realize there´s a whole new world. I still feel sad when I remember the images of all those little children starving to death in community centers that NG showed sometime ago.

Anyone know what time the match is, where it is, and if it be televised here in Japan? (I just looked through the article again and still failed to find the useful bits.)

taj The match is in Seoul ( World Cup Stadium ). Kick off at 20:00. On TV in Japan? I doubt it.

You notice that a few of the North players are actually Zainichi right? (Chong Tese from Kawasaki, etc.)

Are that stupid? S. Korea and N. Korea being practically the same, having same culture, language, sharing same history during 5000 years but for some complex and unfortunate reasons was separated by foreign forces, you dare to draw and analogy with England and Scotland?

What will NK winning do anything for the starving children. It just says, "we beat up the capitalists and NK is superior." There will be no less starving children or people poo-kicked into worshipping Kim Jung-Il.
