All the hype about "revenge" was pretty much overshadowed by some piss-poor-play by the home team. C'mon Japan if yer gonna call out an opponent weeks before the match.. you gotta deliver the goods ! You won on a mistake by the other team, not by your own creation ! You can't be happy about that ! But then again... Japan could !
Japanese soccer is just like Japan's performance in the Olmypics. Every time before an international match/event, the local media consume mind altering drugs and write about the Japanese team/Japanese competitors as if they were reincarnations of Pele, Emil Zadopek, etc (depends on the sport). However, when it comes to putting results on the board, Japanese athletes tend to choke big time. Who remembers when, according to the local media, Japan was set for glory at the last World Cup. They packed their bags after the 1st Round. What a bunch of clowns...
just because a certain country isn't as good as argentina or brazil in football or as good as the US in basketball, they have a right to have hope that their national team will win. i'm sure japanese newscasters know that japan's national football team isn't the greatest in the world, but does that mean they shouldn't be enthusiastic about it? no...
well since i know that japan won't win the world cup 2010, i guess i'll just stop supporting the team now then....

No offense to it's citizens but defeating Bahrain is nothing to write home about.

Nobody wants to stand out in the team so they all play mediocre football.

I'm excited at the thought of Japan being in the same group as Australia for the second round of qualifiers.
I would love to cheer Japan in Sydney!!!
