Yep, that will help Yokohama get out of the Central League cellar.

Well, not as good as Miura who went 11-11 with 3.32 ERA in 28 starts but better than Glynn and Warlond went 3-15/5.11 ERA in 23 starts and 5-10/4.80 ERA in 21 starts.
Gotta start rebuilding somewhere.

Shimizu has been bad for a few years. It was perhaps an omen for the crap season Lotte had that he was opening day starter this year.
Is it just me or is this just a salary dump for Lotte? IIRC he's the highest paid pitcher on the team.

The news could not be better for Yokohama. Nasuno could well be the biggest bust in franchise history. I actually remember going out to Chiba Marine Stadium many years ago to watch an inter-league game between the two teams. It was Nasuno's first start I think. Talk about a disaster, I seem to remember Lotte launching a number of moon shots in the first two innings. Nasuno getting dragged soon after. And to think that that game marks the highlight of his career.

I feel bad for Baystars fans - the team is always bad. Hopefully this is a good signing?

Shimizu is a HUGE improvement over Nasuno. Nasuno was doing so bad that he couldnt even stay in the Major Leagues on the worst team in Japanese baseball. Shimuzu was on the 2006 WBC team, so he immediately on reputation alone becomes at least the #2 starter as Yokohama. I expect that he will do well next season, I am guessing at least a 10 win season even though Yokohama almost never scores any runs for their pitchers.
Plus he is a quality person and hopefully some of his leadership can rub off on some of the younger guys in Yokohama. This is definitely a no lose trade for Yokohama (although somehow I feel now that Nasuno has left Yokohama he will start pitching correctly and even become an All-Star within 2 years- just a hunch)
