So who scored the other runs in the Yankees game?

  • kaminarihito at 08:45 PM JST - 5th October

Matsui went 1 for 2, but Alex Rodriguez had two HRs in one inning with 7 RBIs to establish an AL record for RBIs in a single inning. And in doing so, got 30 HRs and 100 RBIs for 13th season in a row.

A Roid is still a wanker. Such a shame that a nice guy like Matsui has to hang around with a bunch of dickheads like Jeter and C.o.

Waaaaaa, Waaaaa, The Yankees will still kick everyones butt in the playoffs and Matsui will be there with the champs, including Alex!

Matsui had a great year, probably even better than Ichiroid.

If the Yanksters drop him in the offseason, some other team will no doubt happily pick him up as DH.

"Of Matsui's 28 homers, 27 have come as a DH, surpassing Don Baylor's club record of 25, set in 1984. Since the All-Star break, Matsui is hitting .355 (27-for-76) with runners in scoring position, making him a lethal force in pressure situations, and Girardi said that Matsui's power production has been impressive".

Why get rid of him? Go Yankees

The new Yankee Stadium made Matsui's home run stats looks much better. Yankees have hit record number of home runs this year (244) due to short right porch which Matsui benefited from. If Matsui played anywhere else, he will hit 15 home runs at most. Matsui has bad leg and weak arm and cannot play the field and is overpriced for .274 hitter. There are only few team wants him for DH. So far, he had a great career with the Yankees. Regarding Jeter, he and Mauer is a MVP candidate and Jeter batted .334, leading the team in hits with 212. He's a team leader and a great hitter.

then why does he have a better average and more homeruns away from yankee stadium in less games?

    azzassa:

What I said was Matsui did better in home runs at new Yankee stadium this year compared to last years old home/road total of 9 home runs. Matsui is injury prone and if he changes the team at this point of his career, he will not be in a lineup similar to the Yankees and probably won't get the same pitch selections, and his home run total will suffer. What's Matsui's total home runs in 2008 at 9 home runs and 8 in 2006?

  • azzassa at 08:54 AM JST - 8th October

no doubt he's injury prone and that he benefits from the yankee lineup. i still say you're shortchanging him by saying 15 homers at most. we'll see if he ends up somewhere else next year and whether he falls flat on his face
