Good for Ai-chan! Ueda Momoko's my favorite though.

This is heart-warming news. She deserved the win, and her generous gesture will be well appreciated. Let's not forget Mika and Momoko who are also a part of the charity foundation as well.

I love Ai-chan and her golf game, BUT, I don't think she should state that she can't decide to donate all, or some of her winnings. It's either ALL or SOME. It just seems like a slap in the face to the people of Tohoku when someone says something like that. (and I understand a donation is a donation, but....just sayin)

Congrats to her on her win!!!

Whether it's all or some, it'll be more than her colleague Ishikawa is donating through the sport via 'winnings'. :)

Anyway, congrats to her for winning, and good on her for making a donation at all.

It does??? She's going to give somewhere between a lot of money and half a million US. That's a slap in the face? I wonder what it would be if she gave nothing...

    @pawatan-

It doesn't????? Instead of just donating, she has to decide? If I donate this much, I can't buy this. If I donate this much, I cant do that. I still wished she just came out and said, II'm donating OOOOO amount to Tohuku," and should have ended the statement at that.

And if she says she MIGHT donate all of her winnings and ends up donating 100 yen, then you'd be okay with that? And where did she say 'alot' of money?

I kind of agree with Gururkun; the way she said it sounds rather heartless when she probably meant to be generous. I'm not saying she should have said it be 'all or none', but perhaps she just should have said something like she plans to donate some of her winnings and left it at that. If she in the end decided to donated all that could be headlines for a later date.

I'd be OK with anybody who donated anything. Who am I to judge someone else's charity? She's keeping the need for donations high profile; this will probably encourage more to donate.

I still wished she just came out and said, II'm donating OOOOO amount to Tohuku," and should have ended the statement at that.

Well she didn't, and she will still surely donate more of her time and money to Tohoku relief than the vast, vast majority.

Ishikawa-san is doing well this year - 44,000,000+ in Japan that is going to charity. I think he is second in Japan to Kim from Korea on the Japan Tour.

Not bad at all, then. Is that winnings and not sponsorships though?

    Well said.

I think that is all winnings. I saw on the news last night that he was in second place this weekend. It's too bad he hasn't had a win so far but it seems he has done pretty nicely.

Ai Miyazato claimed her second Evian Masters in three years on Sunday and pledged to donate some or all of her winnings to the victims of the earthquake that devastated northern Japan in March.

First of all I'd like to congratulate her on her outstanding performance.

As to what she stated about donating winnings, I don't know whether she spoke in English or Japanese. "pledged to donate" is not an actual quote. And if she had made her statement in Japanese, how was it translated? She may have made a clumsy statement, correcting herself while speaking. I see absolutely no reason to criticize her. She is a fantastic person with her heart in the right place.

If I won 363,000 euros, I'd definitely donate some of it.

Whatever she donates is tax deductable. The net amount won't change much. She will be able to keep most of it anyway because tax is based on one year total earnings. This is a good PR move.

You REALLY think shes doing this to help her image ?? Goodness gracious..sad

Ichiro, Matsui, Darvish and many other sports figures responded immediately with generous contributions, and after over 4 months, she's saying if I win 363,000 euros, I will donate some of it? What if she didn't win? I will not donate because I didn't win? What does it matter? Point is she already earned alot of money from the prior wins, and since she's from Sendai, why didn't she open the wallets immediately like others? This is nothing but a PR garbage.

Actually she did. Google is your friend on this one. Miyazato Ai, Miyazato Mika, and Ueda Momoko all started up a foundation to generate funds for Tohoku immediately after the disaster.

This is nothing but a PR garbage.

Why would you say such a thing about a young woman who is doing what she can for her people in Tohoku? Sad.
