Enjoyed his win and style of sumo. Just seems to have a positive part of his play which is why I prefer him to Asashoryu

If sumo really wants to improve its image, it will change the TV time for the finals to start at 6:00 PM so that the regular worker can see them. Add some quality ads and sponsorship with messages to the youth, then watch its popularity grow. Will it happen? No. Tradition is more important to the wealthy who can buy the tickets while commoners work.

As long as NHK holds the broadcast rights to the 6 major yearly tournaments sadly this will never change. I agree that changing the timing for the main bouts should be held later and give more people an opportunity to watch them.

He had a shocking start as an ozeki as well. And also when he changed his name from Ama. But he came good both times, as he has done after his woeful start to his career as a Yokozuna . I wish him luck!

There will be a "good future" for sumo when there are more Japanese competing. Right now the Mongolians are dominating the sport ... and the fans ... who are mostly Japanese ... want to see their men do the winning.
