Murata, Bigbie lift Yokohama over Hanshin

Shuichi Murata hit a three-run home run in the third inning and pinch-hitter Larry Bigbie’s two-run blast put the icing on the cake in the ninth as the Yokohama BayStars beat the Central League leading Hanshin Tigers 6-2 on Friday. Murata connected off Yuya Ando (4-3) over the fence in left, making it 3-0 in the third and Hanshin pulled within 4-2, only for Bigbie to widen the lead with his drive against reliever Atsushi Nomi in the ninth at Koshien Stadium.

In other CL games, Chunichi downed Yomiuri 7-4 and Yakult beat Hiroshima 1-0. In the Pacific League, Seibu edged Orix 3-2, and Rakuten hammered Lotte 11-4.
