All the deception, the fraud, the fakery. I for one will take the USA with all it's bravado and "in your face" openness... no matter how the chips may fall ! Another example of how many countries out there can't handle the pressure of the "world's eyes" upon it. Too bad, I feel cheated !

What's scandalous is that no-one noticed.

Yes, the land of Ashlee Simpson and the hoe down. Bravado and in your face openness? Does that mean blaming your band when the lip-synching has been let out of the bag? Oh, that's right, the pre-recorded voice was at least hers. More examples of deception? Let's see....the great Marion Jones.

Other countries aren't perfect, but taking the mightier than thou attitude when your own closet has hidden skeletons doesn't give you any credibility.

    terrikus:

I find some of the China bashing on this subject to be slightly ironic now.

Yeah, but it's still cool to bash everything Chinese.

imgold, I find the irony of your comment extremely funny in light of the Britney Spears concert video thing that was all over the net last week... if you missed it, someone synced up the (not meant to be heard) live feed from her mic to a video of the concert for hilarious effect.

The skeletons in my mighty closet don't need to mime.

    :)

  • nimbus at 05:17 AM JST - 27th August

It makes no difference to me because in both cases, China and Australia, the main attraction was the Olympics and not a concert.

  • rajakumar at 05:52 AM JST - 27th August

Olympics is over and done in china/australia. The medals/claps have been given. Let the London2012 show be the focus now.

  • Smythe at 06:14 AM JST - 27th August

I was all set to point my finger at China's cheating at the Olympics opening, to be copied by Australia, till I noted the year 2003 & also knew about the Britney Speers incident.

One has to ask themselves how often has this been carried out at other places or incidents.

What a strange world we do live in.

  • eresay at 09:00 AM JST - 27th August

Quite a scoop! Just 8 years to get this story out!

  • Nessie at 09:27 AM JST - 27th August

They must have just declassified the documents.

  • Everton2 at 09:30 AM JST - 27th August

Ho my! I am devastated! Here I ma criticizing the Chinese only to discover that the Aussies are no better.

  • lipscombe at 09:37 AM JST - 27th August

apparently the London Olympics has already secretly been held and filmed and is now in the editing room removing any bloopers so it'll be ready for a 2012 broadcast

Everton---Terrikus. I am sure you find anything ironic when it is against China. but as some here has said and I agree with,, they mimed the music, but they were the ones to have played it. Not some decietful scheme as to pull a milli vanilli trick

Or was the orchestra to ugly to play in person??? There is a big difference in the issues here. like it or not. Try and make excuuses for China's down grading of its people if you like but it does not change the facts or the face of the CCP. I guess some Chinese , even children are not as elite of a population many Chinese have been taught that they are and the government believes of the Chinese race race.

Ashley Simpson, Britney Spears, Marion Jones ? All "individuals" making poor decisions that, yes, cheat the audience and fans. This incident with Sydney was hardly an "individual" decision. The orchestra, broadcasting crews, music directors, television directors, Sydney Olympic heads, the list goes on, and probably includes the IOC. So many people knew about the deception and simply let it slide for 8 years. Pukey2 is right, "countries aren't perfect". Unfortunatly that doesn't seem to apply to Pukey2's wavering morals when it comes to the USA. What a shame, it was a nice comment, but somewhat hollow.

I'm sure this 'trickery' goes beyond Beijing/Sydney. It's not a rock concert folks. We all know that the live version is not even close to something recorded.
