NEW YORK —
Japan’s Kei Nishikori defeated fourth seed David Ferrer 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 7-5 in the third round of the U.S. Open on Saturday.
The unseeded Nishikori advances to the fourth round where he will play Juan Martin Del Potro.
The 18-year-old Nishikori, who is ranked 126th in the world, defeated Ferrer in a match that lasted three hours, 25 minutes on the Louis Armstrong Stadium court.
“I still can’t believe it,’’ said Nishikori, who tried but failed to qualify for the U.S. Open last year. “I was playing great. This is the biggest win for me.’’

“I still can’t believe it. I was playing great and he was playing great too. That was the biggest win for me,” beamed the 18-year-old, who collapsed on to his back after sealing victory.
Great victory over the fourth-ranked player in the world, David Ferrer. Keep up the great work, Nishikori!

I still can't believe it either! Juan Martin Del Potro seems to be in good form at the moment though, so the 4th round match should be interesting, and Kei has a chance to make it through to the last 8.
He's ranked 126th today, but see what happens when the updated ratings come out :)
