Only 17,710 fans in big Tokyo Dome. Looks like they overestimated the appeal of American football.

I don't think it really had to do with overestimating the appeal, but rather overestimating how much, in a weakening economy, people would be willing to pay to see a bunch of has beens (Notre Dame) play a group of wannabees (Japan National team). Ticket prices were obscene. And Notre Dame is not such a hot ticket anymore. Whatever happened to REAL NFL teams coming to Japan to play some ball???

I was interested in coming until I saw the prices - tailgate party + ticket was almost 10,000 yen. I think I will go to 6 or 7 baseball games instead for that price.

Personally I won't go to Japan to watch Football just like I won't go to the US to watch Sumo.

Football sucks, Baseball rules! Congrats to the Japanese people for figuring that out.

Football sucking is your opinon, es1980. I like football, baseball, pretty much all sports. But this was a sad event...retired ND players playing in a country where football is second in oblivion only to hockey. And the prices were sky high. No thanks. Stay in South Bend, guys.
