Good thing they've got Ichiro showing up, or else no spectators would. This opening the season thing is a gimmick that makes no sense save to make a quick buck. Hope the players aren't too jet-lagged in Japan or on return home.

Of course he's glad - they'll probably get more people than the average attendance in Oakland, ha!

It will be great for baseball fans in Japan, and since it is at the beginning of the season it should not be to troublesome on the players.

@lostrune2, the number of fans they draw for this series could equal a whole month of Oakland games. Oak coliseum is a dump.

smithinjapan ... both games boston vs. A's at Tokyo dome in 2008 were SOLD OUT. Exihibition game between boston/oakland vs. giants/tigers too nearly sold out. great games, great atmosphere. this should be another great series. this isn't a gimmick, its the real deal.
