"Oh shares the Japanese single-season home run record of 55 with Tuffy Rhodes and Alex Cabrera."
Should not bring up Mr. Rhodes without adding the following:
In the 2001 season, he hit his 55th homer to tie Sadaharu Oh's Japanese League single season home run record, set in 1964. For the rest of the season, opposing pitchers intentionaly walked Rhodes to prevent him from breaking Oh's record.

Agree! Wish he was still with the Yanks!

Or, alternatively, we can avoid diminishing Matsui's achievement by dredging up old and unrelated controversies.
Congrats, Gojira! I detest both Yomiuri and the Yanks but you're always a class act.
