Only rugby 7s should be considered - None of the other sports can come even close to ensuring the kind of high-level action, party atmosphere and outstanding chance of minor-nation-medals the 7s can offer.
seriously: baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, softball - are all ridiculous choices. Baseball and softball are amongst the world's dullest spectacles and were disasters at recent olympics. Karate is a meathead sport, ..roller sports.....(!) hahaha
Rugby and Squash - without any doubt.

But how many countries actually have a chance of winning a rugby 7s tournament? Probably around 4 or 5 and everyone else is just along for the ride.

Just say no to baseball and softball! If it's really necessary to expand the number of sports in the Games, let's give a couple of other ones a chance.

soldave your wrong with sevens. Any team can win on any given day at sevens. African teams making good progress in the sport.

spudman - As they can at any sport.
In karate anyone can potentially beat anyone. Cricket, darts, cominoes too...

baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, rugby sevens, softball and squash.
I still think that golf will have a high priority and when you consider the ability of the sport to bring in the likes of a Tiger Woods to the olympic mopvement?
7s rugby will be good. It is an exciting game and offers the lesser sporting powers of the likes of Fiji, Western Samoa, Argentina, Tonga a good medal chance. If they can bring in exciting new names such as James O'Connor of Australia (brilliant game against Italy!) all the better!

baseball had its chance, softball is just as boring, roller sports?you've got to be kidding. Squash makes sense kind of, Karate...we already have wrestling and judo and boxing. Sevens, as magpie said, alot of countries that non-rugby followers have never even heard of would at least be able to put in a fair fight. I doubt there are squash courts a plenty in the small pacific nations among others though, nor baseball fields. Golf? Too exclusive a sport for it to have universal appeal. Sounds like squash and rugby sevens to me. Both fast paced, and reasonably easy for someone to get involved with in most countries. Maybe Karate for its appeal and availability worldwide.

rugby in, and maybe, as an experiment, a golf-karate combination event, with a quick fight on each green to determine the winner of the hole

karate? baseball? rugby? golf? In any case, I'm sure any of those sports are much more exciting than racewalking (and I can't believe that it actually is an Olympic sport!).
