NK sets the proper example for other nations to follow. -a country that can't feed it's own has better order/discipline than countries that have 1000 times more.

Once again, what planet do you live on? Torch trouble in Japan was NOTHING compared to London and Paris.

Oh really? i never saw head injuries or blood spill over except in Nagano city of Japan.

South Korean Government is now officially protesting against the Chinese Torch Relay because many Chinese acted violent in the S. Korean run.

So, we should appreciate PRC for not complaining to Japan for injuries caused by japanese nationalists to their supporters in Nagano.

"Oh really? i never saw head injuries or blood spill over except in Nagano city of Japan."

Just a couple of years ago nationalist chinese were marching in China crying "Kill the Japanesse", burning the Japanese flag and destroying Japanese stores and the embassy. And now the Chinese wave their red flag all over Japan and expect no response from the Japanese nationalists? I've seen you continuously remark on alleged anti-chinese sentiment in Japan, but frankly, apart from the black truck boys who form a very small fringe minority, I really think most Japanese don't seem to care. Can you say the same for China? Could as many Japanese people wave the Rising Sun all over in China and get away with it?

China the reality is that the world just don't trust you to be fair in any negotiations on autonomy and independence. You simply have a bad record on such matters. The difference between your society and others in the West is stark, and that is why your supporters abroad come exclusively from the Chinese diaspora.

Thats not entirely true, and shows a misunderstanding of western history and society and an even greater misunderstanding of Chinese society.

Yep, a dictatorship is so much more orderly than those unruly democracies.

Yes, you said it. Democracies rot with really bad smell.

  • tclh at 05:48 AM JST - 29th April

Democracy will never rot,it just declines a little bit, repairs itself and then grow again, stronger.Dictatorship is like a piece of rock ,it looks neat, tidy but LIFELESS.

Terrikus The problem is that we understand China too much. I just don't understand how any thinking Chinese in light of the Communist Party's history could support them and expect to be taken seriously. For those Chinese who live in the West I asked that you reflect on the freedoms you now enjoy. The right to be critical of the government without reprisal, the right to due process under the law, the right to demonstrate about anything you like. Now, think about the Tibetan people and their right to determne their own destiny.

how could anyone expect anything else in a country that controls every thing and every one every minute of the day??? this is not news.

  • dr_jones at 12:36 PM JST - 29th April

Some interesting facts about China: The Chinese Embassies in every country are paying the travel costs for Chinese people who go to the torch relay. There's even a official manual provided to the Chinese supporters ... with stuff along the lines like these: "If you encounter a Tibet supporter, surround them with 10 or 20 people and start shouting at them. But don't use violence or dirty words." ... Where else did we see so much systematic nationalism?!

  • Crucades at 01:18 PM JST - 29th April

congrats to the Pyongyang authorities for a well run and enjoyable torch run, its nice to see some people still enjoy the spectacle

  • dr_jones at 04:19 PM JST - 29th April

@Crusades: read some more details at Asahi News: http://www.asahi.com/international/update/0429/TKY200804280362.html (you need to know Japanese though).

  • staytune at 07:38 PM JST - 29th April

ridiculous story.yet maybe partially true, just as a lot of Tibetan protestors' travel cost paid by Tibetan exile government or westen donation.

Lies. All my Chinese collegues in our US subsidiary voluntarily went to San Franscisco to protect the torch. Please do not use lies to support your argument.
