Olympic torch relay starts in China's mainland

The mainland China leg of the Olympic torch relay began Sunday in the southern province of Hainan, following the torch run in the Chinese territories of Hong Kong and Macao.

The torch will travel through 113 cities and regions in the Chinese mainland and also ascend Mt Everest before arriving in Beijing on Aug 6 to start a three-day relay before the Summer Olympics opens in the Chinese capital Aug 8, according to the Beijing organizing committee for the Olympics.
