that "compact olympics" idea that was so prominent in their bidding campaign is a resounding success. and yes, i know that soccer was originally proposed for tohoku at the time of their bid, but now organizers want areas outside of Tokyo to host events?? i'm confusing

Perhaps after they entomb the nuclear plant, they might get some takers

For petes sake FIX the problems for the PEOPLE of Fukushima/Tohoku, FIRST!

Stop USING them for the Olympics, its getting sickening!

One by one, promises made during the Olympic bid are being broken.

GW: thumbs up. Yes, I do find it sickening of them to use the plight of the victims to make the world feeling guilty about not bringing the Olympics to Fukushima.

For most countries, the Olympics are going to be a financial burden, if not a big loss. Japan cannot afford it and it's already wasted a lot of money. I'd love to know how much this all costs after the accounts are sorted in 2020. And please, don't shred all the documents like in Nagano.

"Fukushima being proposed as a host for an Olympic baseball venue proves it's totally safe there now."

More government PR, period. Try fixing the problems with the plant and the people around it FIRST, then worry about trying to make yourself look good by using the people, as usual. Sorry, but this whole, "let's serve food/host an even from the areas around the plant to show it's safe and make the people feel better" thing is tired, and doesn't work. And what happened to all the promises Japan made before the Olympic bid?
