Tuffy Rhodes-who doesnt count as a foreign-registered player because hes been in Japan more than 9 years, Greg LaRocca, Alex Cabrera-who is off to terrible start, Tom Davey, and now this Ramon Ortiz. I guess Collins-kantoku is going to sink or swim with his foreign players.
Will Kiyohara come out and play later this year? He is being paid a the equivalent of a million dollars and hasn`t appeared in a game since the 2006 season. Come on and join the fun, Kiyohara!
Ortiz has been horrible for quite some time now after having some success in 2002 when he was probably one of the top dozen or so pitchers in the American League. He'll have to work on his changeup to become non-horrendous.
What I want to know is if his head has become even bigger since last year. Each time I see him his head is bigger. I mean literally. Not his attitude but his skull keeps expanding. If he does come out I would be suprised to see him play more than 10 games before getting a new knee injury. All the training and what not will not support the knees simply because no amount of knees can be strong enough to support an ever increasing head.
outhousejt: Kiyohara has the same problem Barry Bonds has after putting roids and whatever else into his body. Most Japanese dont want to believe it, but I bet it is true. He`ll play a few games here and there, and then will have a retirement game that Orix will milk for as much exposure and every yen possible.
Considering how poorly they are hitting so far, Orix is lucky to be in the middle of the pack in the CL.
