He's past his prime and will probably have to settle for a minor team willing to take a gamble on him.

pain in his lower body? are we talking about his legs? groin? what?

after returning to the "top team" - don't they have a word for Big Leagues or Majors?

and was a key member of the Japan team that won the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006

All he needs to do is to return to that form and someone will find themselves with a decent pitcher. As soon as he gets out of that Yomiuri franchise he will find life a lot better.

You reckon? As far as I know, they treat their players (especially career-long servants) like Gods...

Northlondon is right. I think Uehara holds a grudge against Giants management for ruining his path to the Majors. Uehara should move to Hanshin Tigers immediately and then devastate the Giants batting line ups next season. I think the Majors are a bridge to far now. Uehara can thank Hara and crew for that. He can thank them by crushing.

If I may so bold, as to speak for the vast numbers of American baseball fans wanting to see quality pitching. Uehara! Please stay in Japan ! Another ticket seller for Japanese tourists is really unnecessary at this stage. We would rather see some local kid, yep an American, get a shot at ML baseball. For once lets leave the salesmen that run mlb out of the picture.

Uehara has logged lots of throws from his body. Lots and lots and LOTS. I remember first seeing him as a rookie and marveled at his stamina. But that was 9 years ago. And he just kept throwing harder and harder and ....broke down. Now he wishes to go to the U.S. It seems like a strange system. But then again, the so-called nobody Okajima went to Boston and became an All-Star, hero and WS winner, so maybe Uehara thinks he's can be as effective as Okajima, or about as effective as Ishii was for the Dodgers (13-6) in his best year. Why not try? Ditto for Kawakami. Its their last chance to do what they love to do, while they can still do it. Kuwata went way too late and was only asked to pitch by the low-budget last place Pittsburg Pirates. Uehara is about 7-8 years younger I believe?
