Japanese players have to stay with their organisations for about 9 years before they are entitled to free agency. The foreign guys however can be traded around like baseball cards, usually resulting in a decent foreign player being 'acquired' by Yomiuri.

Hanshin has not had a decent foreigner since Randy B.

George Arias was a decent batter, but yet again fell for the Yomiuri cash incentive at the end of his career here, which is a total no-no for Tigers fans and lost my respect for him. There again, Hanshin are one of the worst cases for the treatment of foreign players.

Northlondon, Im still waiting for an accurate post from you. Foreign players DONT get "traded around like baseball cards." Foreign players generally get signed to short-term contracts, usually just one year. At the ehd of the season they are free agents and can negotiate with any team they like. This is completely different to a trade where a player is still under contract and dealt to another team in exchange for someone or something that is considered to be of mutual benefit.

eresay, and I'm still waiting for an accurate criticism from you. You just said it yourself (which highlights your confusion), foreign players in Japan only get short-term contracts, usually just 1 year. Does that not imply to you that the Japanese clubs do not want to hold on to their foreign players and only offer long-term secure deals to the Japanese players. Yomiuri, with it's financial power, will then snap-up the good players. So I don't understand what your point is ?

Dont change the subject. You said foreign players were traded frequently. WRONG. Once their contract expires they are free to sign with whoever they want. They are free agents, they are NOT traded.
Your posts imply you are a newbie to the game. Im more than happy to educate you but please thank me rather than say Im "confused." Oh dear.
Oh have you found that Jeff Williams MLB save stat for me yet?
