TOKYO —
Alex Ramirez had a tiebreaking single and Wirfin Obispo threw one-run ball over 6-2/3 innings as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Hiroshima Carp 4-1 on Thursday. Ramirez broke a 1-1 tie with his hit to center in the third and Yoshiyuki Kamei followed with an RBI grounder. Hayato Sakamoto capped the scoring with a run-scoring double in the sixth for the Central League leader.
Obispo (1-0), making his first start in Japan, scattered seven hits, struck out six and walked two at Tokyo Dome. Colby Lewis (4-4) took the loss. Kenta Kurihara homered for a 1-0 lead in the second before a Lee Seung Yeop RBI single tied it in the bottom half.
