The taunter was banned for a month, and the team suspended operations for a month? Does that mean the whole team has effectively been banned? For the stupidity of one player?

Sledging happens in most sports, no holds barred, ok this one was in bad taste but jeez how did the authorites find out did they have mics on the field, or did the Kaimaishi player cry to his coach or the ref.

This lot would not do well in the super 15, tri nations or world cup if they cant handle a bit of bad tatse sledging.

Toughen up sonny rugby's a hard game (Physical and Mental) played by hard men and boys.

If this is what is coming through for the brave blossoms they are doomed !

Geez the Kamaishi guys are not such cry babies, AM needs to head up there and tell them to HTFU.

Yes, the team from Kamaishi should be strong enough to ignore taunts like this. But the effects of taunts like this go far beyond the playing field and can hurt a lot of people dealing with severe emotional issues that most is willmthankfully never have to face. So it was correct to penalise the offenders with the big mouths. No one in Japan should be so thoughtless as to make remarks like this

Sledging is truly an embarrassing part of the game...but there are 2 areas that step over the line..race and personal tragedy ...show your toughness with your game not your mouth is the creed of champions.

Sledging is usually done by the big mouth player who doesn't have enough talent to let his actions do the talking. Watch any truely great player and watch how much sledging they do....zip. Its easy to say that the Kamaishi team/player should be more thick skinned, but how do we know what hardships he suffered during the disaster? Maybe his lost a family member? If you have to resort to such sledging your morals are hanging down around your ar5e. If i were the coach of the Tokyo team i would have taken the player aside and said if you can't compete at a high level without degrading remarks get off this team and if ever you do it again i will throw you off the team.....now enjoy the bench because thats where you'll be for the next month.

This happened about a week ago. A little more information on the matter : the player was suspended for 2 weeks from his job and the team has to go up to the Tohoku every weekend to do volunteer work.
