Russia will face Brazil tomorrow and Japan is likely to defeat United States !

Yeah, congratulations to that alien Gamova and the rest of the Russians on their win over the Americans. After the Americans humiliated them in the 2nd set, not only denying them a 3-0 victory, but winning the set 25-13, they decided enough was enough and took the next 2 sets.
And congratulations to the Brazilians on their awesome come-from behind victory over the Japanese. And congraulations to the Japanese for pushing the Brazilians harder than any other team in this World Championship.

yes, not so friendly nations gifted one set and friendly nation gave two sets to host nation, end result was same i.e. Japan lost !

Actually the Japan-Brazil match will go down as one of the greatest volleyball matches in history.
As much as I wanted the Japanese to beat the Brazilians, I will be rooting for the Brazilians to beat that alien Gamova and the rest of the pesky Russians tomorrow.
Also, as much as I love the Japanese team, as an American I will be rooting for the Americans to beat the Japanese tomorrow.
And I'll be rooting for the Polish women to beat the pesky Chinese.

I feel sorry for the Japanese players and fans. It must really hard to swallow a defeat after after winning 2 sets, dreaming of winning another set out of three sets. They have to start all over again, wisely with higher players this time.

The Japanes tried their best, but the Brazilians won.

I'm very happy for my home country have won this battle. We want to be Chapions by the 1st time in this competition. If it wasn't against Brazil, I wanted Japan have won this Semi-Final.
Carneiro, onde voce vive? Eu estou em Montreal.

It must really irk the Chinese that the Japanese, who they beat, are playing the Americans for 3rd place, while they are playing Poland for 11th place.

And it really irks me that although the Russia-Brazil final for 1st place gets underway at 7pm, I have to wait until after midnight to see the broadcast on TBS.

That second set (35-33) was crazy. Good effort by Japan, but Brazil was still the stronger team.

Amazing how in the 2nd set Brazil had 9 set points but couldn't take the set, while Japan needed just 2 set points to take it.

Sarge:
No Sarge, I just think it must irk you that China beat Japan in their match.
I hear that Jpn got the bronze. Well done! Maybe next time they can have a tournament OUTSIDE Japan. Other teams are having to play against the crowds and Exile, in addition to the Japanese volleyball team. Not fair. Johnny's are bad enough.

hahahaha Japan beat USA? well done Japan!!! Best news of the day.

No, Pukey, it must really irk the Chinese that they lost in straight sets to Poland, who the Japanese beat, for 12th place while the Japanese beat the U.S. for 3rd place.
Another thrilling match ( the Japan-U.S. match ) thanks to both teams.
And while it irks me that the Brazilians couldn't beat Russia, they at least took 2 sets from them. Time to impose height limits on players. Really unfair for a team to have to play a team with players over 2 meters tall.

There's nothing on TBS right now(that's channel 6 right?).

correction: just saw a 3-second glimpse of the game. Pfft

Rubbish. The US basketball team sent one of the smaller teams in the World Championship yet won undefeated. Height is not everything.

"Height is not everything"
Yes, the Japanese prove that all the time, heck, Yoshie Takeshita is all of 159 cm tall and she blocked one of those 2 meter tall Russian's spikes. But the undeniable fact is height does give you an advantage in this sport. Heck, even some of the Japanese players are over 180 cm tall.

Of course. Height gives advantage in some sports, but it's not the main skill that a team wins or loses. Glad you acknowledge, Sarge.
